Hello! I’m Mutlu Çelik...

My name means “Happy” in Turkish... I was born in Istanbul as a child of Bergama-Izmir born father and Soma-Manisa born mother in November 12th, 1978. My childhood and high school years were in Değirmendere-Kocaeli since my father was on duty in the military.

Athletics and basketball were my favorite sports in my middle school and highschool years. I graduated from Donanma Elementary School in 1989 and Körfez Oruç Reis Anatolian Highschool in 1996.

When I attended university, my days in Ankara started. I graduated from Hacettepe University Food Engineering Department in 2000. After graduation from the university, I attended doctorate program in Middle East Technical University Food Engineering Department and studied on a scholarship of ÖYP scholarship program financed by TÜBİTAK. While studying for my doctorate, I also worked as a Research Assistant in the same department simultaneously.

In 2006, my first USA experience took place. Between the years 2006 and 2007, I worked as a visiting scholar in  University of Florida and Ohio State University. In 2007, I had my PhD degree from Middle East Technical University, Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, Food Engineering.

In 2008, my career started as a Research Assistant in Kocaeli University and in the same year I was promoted as an Assistant Professor. In 2008, I worked in University of Bordeaux, UHP Research Center as a visiting scholar.

2008 was really an abundant year for me. I was married in the same year and had a son named Tunç in 2010.

In 2009-2010 and 2013-2015, I served as a Vice-Chairperson in my department.

In 2015-2016, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher in University of Florida, Food Science and Human Nutrition Department.
